Please note this course is 1,500 class and clinic hours, takes a minimum of 13 months to complete which figures in to 30 hours a week.

Cosmetology Instructor
Classes on becoming an instructor are available after you have completed your course in cosmetology. Continuing education is a required 750 hour course. You will be trained how to instruct and teach the cosmetology course. The Master Educator, third edition provides the backbone of the instructor theory for the beauty and wellness educator. The text presents educators with the teaching skills and educational judgments necessary to become an effective and successful instructor. The content in Master Educator is designed for flexibility, being used in programs ranging from a basic overview of instructor training to programs that require more advanced teaching techniques. Presented in a conversational, easy-to-understand style, it uses many pedagogical features to emphasize important information and powerful teaching techniques. Master Educator serves the future instructor as a valuable, fundamental learning tool, and the seasoned instructor with the strategies needed to adapt to the changing landscape of classroom learning. Finally, you will be trained and prepared for the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology Licensing Examinations.

Admissions
Cosmetology Program
Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology will accept:
-
State of Louisiana High School diploma,
-
Homeschool diploma. Must also have approval letter from the Louisiana Department of Education for corresponding graduation year, a signed student consent form and birth certificate to verify the diploma is recognized as a Louisiana high school equivalent and carry the same privileges as one issued by a state approved private school according to LA R.S. 17:236.1(G)

General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or (HISET)

Out of State High School diploma or GED. Must also have a certification of authenticity from that state's Secretary of State Office. *Note: The State Secretary's Office must be able to certify that the diploma is authentic and that the school listed on the diploma is legitimate.
5. Foreign High School that is equivalent to a U.S. issued diploma. High school diplomas in languages other than English must be translated to English and must be confirmed as academically equivalent to a United States issued high school diploma by an outside agency. Applicants who are applying for the cosmetology program must:
1. Provide original documents of one of the above listed diplomas and
2. Must be at least 16 years of age. (A Parent or Guardian signature is required for applicants under 18 years of age.)
Cosmetology Instructor Program
​​Applicants who are applying for cosmetology instructor program must provide original documents:

A current cosmetology license.

A high school diploma or equivalent as stated in Admissions Policy above.

Have been actively engaged in the practice of cosmetology for at least twelve months prior to beginning the instructor's course. *This will be verified by the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology.
